The National Erasmus+ Office in Algeria, in collaboration with the Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE) team, organized on 28 October 2025 a national hybrid seminar on “Recognition in Higher Education.” Held within the framework of Erasmus+ HERE activities, the event aimed to enhance understanding of international recognition frameworks and support Algeria’s alignment with the principles of the European Higher Education Area.
The seminar featured contributions from European experts Chiara Finocchietti and Sjur Bergan, who presented key concepts related to the Bologna Process, the Lisbon Recognition Convention, and National Qualifications Frameworks. Algerian HERE members shared national experiences and challenges in implementing effective recognition systems.
Several emerging aspects — including digital credentials, blockchain technologies, and online learning platforms — were discussed as innovative tools for modernizing recognition processes, with valuable contributions from HERE experts.
The seminar concluded with recommendations to further strengthen cooperation between Algerian and European institutions and to promote transparent and efficient recognition practices across the national higher education system.
