The Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office (NEO) Algeria participated in the Erasmus+ Transnational Cooperation Activity (TCA) entitled “Erasmus+ Aiming Higher: Mediterranean Bridges Across Africa and Europe for Shared Academic Pathways”, held in Tunis, Tunisia, from 20 to 23 April 2026.
The event was co-organised by the Italian Erasmus+ National Agency (INDIRE) within the framework of the MedNet Network, in cooperation with the National Erasmus+ Office Tunisia and UNIMED – Mediterranean Universities Union. It brought together approximately 170 representatives of Higher Education Institutions, Erasmus+ National Agencies, National Erasmus+ Offices (NEOs), Erasmus+ National Focal Points (ENFPs), and other key stakeholders from 16 African and 12 European countries.
The TCA provided a unique platform to strengthen academic cooperation between Africa and Europe, foster new institutional partnerships, and promote Erasmus+ opportunities across international mobility, Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE), Erasmus Mundus, and other programme actions. Through thematic sessions, panel discussions, and networking activities, participants exchanged experiences, explored future collaboration opportunities, and discussed innovative approaches to the internationalisation of higher education.
A key focus of the event was the future Erasmus+ Programme (2028–2034). Participants shared recommendations on strengthening the programme’s impact, enhancing inclusiveness and accessibility, simplifying implementation procedures, and reinforcing cooperation between European and African higher education institutions.
The Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office Algeria actively engaged in discussions with representatives of National Agencies, National Erasmus+ Offices, Higher Education Institutions, and international stakeholders, contributing to exchanges on future cooperation priorities and the evolving role of Erasmus+ in supporting academic partnerships between Europe and Africa. The networking sessions also provided valuable opportunities to establish new contacts and explore potential collaborations involving Algerian higher education institutions.
