On November 20-21, 2024, the National Erasmus+ Offices of Algeria and Lebanon co-hosted a hybrid workshop titled “Higher Education and Greening in Algeria and Lebanon” Held online and in person at the Polytechnic School of Architecture and Urbanism (EPAU) in Algiers, the event was part of a Technical Assistance Meeting (TAM), organized periodically by Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) to support educational development and policy reform.
The workshop brought together European experts Alfonso Marzal from the University of Extremadura, Spain, and Andrea Vargiu from the University of Sassari, Italy, alongside regional representatives from Algeria, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Jordan. Discussions focused on the pivotal role of higher education in promoting ecological sustainability, exploring challenges and opportunities in greening campuses, integrating sustainability into curricula, and aligning higher education systems with national ecological policies.
This event underscored the region’s dedication to advancing sustainability in higher education and highlighted the value of international and regional collaboration in addressing pressing global environmental challenges.
